This blog has always been about food & cooking, about the fun of drawing cartoons and discovering the humorous side of life and last but not least the revealing inspiration of traveling - until Corona hit us all. But then, all of a sudden, I had to start an unexpected and completely new journey: To live with breast cancer.
One step at a time…
About 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. And if you are "one" of the 1 in 8, everything changes from one day to the other. All of a sudden you are facing topics you have never heard of and people around you will tell you to "keep fighting". But even if I have just started my journey, I'm convinced that my cancer won’t be defeated in a grand, glorious battle. It’s more of a slog. Unglamorous and incremental. I will have to live with my cancer, one day after the other, one step at a time....

You don't have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces - just good food from fresh ingredients. I try to avoid processed food as much as possible. And I avoid meat. And yes, cooking from fresh ingredients will take some of your precious time. But cooking has a lot to do with taste, soul and passion. There are tons of reasons why the kitchen is considered to be the heart of the home. At least that's true for my home.

Actually, drawing cartoons is very similar to cooking. It requires some technique but at the end of the day it's more about creativity and the courage to leave your personal comfort zone (at least when you've decided to go public).

Traveling is time-consuming, exciting, challenging and always an experience. As is reading. Sometimes you need a while to understand the message between the lines. And sometimes you are immediately thrilled.
I love traveling and I'm very aware of the fact that it is a luxury to travel for fun (even if it's for business).
